Landline Digital Switchover & Telecare Alarms - Key Info

What's happening and when?

The roll out, led by BT and other communication providers, is in progress and the deadline for completion is January 2027. Traditional analogue landlines are being upgraded to digital only lines. This will require many customers to upgrade their telephone equipment and might affect telecare services they may have.

Are SureSafe's alarms compatible with the switchover?

We'd like to assure potential alarm users as well as existing customers that SureSafe, as one of the UK's leading provider of personal alarms, sells almost exclusively mobile alarms, which are entirely unaffected by the transition. These include the UK's best-selling personal alarm; the SureSafeGo, as well as the SureSafe Dementia Tracker, SureSafe Seizure Alarm and SureSafe Lone Worker Alarm.

Some of our older devices, and those which do rely on a landline connection, may still work on a digital line and may be suitable in specific circumstances. Upon request, we can upgrade affected customers to mobile alarms, which do not require a landline, at a heavily discounted cost and no set-up fee's. This is subject to qualifying criteria, and a subscription adjustment might be required based on the monitoring option.

We will monitor and update our marketing materials, website and customer communications to ensure that the difference in alarm types is clearly represented.

Are personal alarms that work on analogue landlines obsolete?

For people who do not have a reliable mobile or broadband signal and have not yet upgraded or do not want a digital landline, the older style non-digital alarms are an effective solution for now. We do advise that, due to the digital transition, these will not be able to be supported indefinitely though.
