Medical alarms for the elderly are designed to provide quick support in cases of an emergency.
There are different types of personal alarms (namely alarms connected to a response centre, or alarms connected to family and friends). The alarm is designed to call one of these options if a button is pressed, or something such as a fall is detected (depending on the alarm and the features it has).
Medical alarm devices work by connecting you, or a loved one, to help at the push of a button worn on the body at all times.
Studies have shown that when comparing medical alaert devices users and non-users, those with a panic button for elderly people service experienced more positive outcomes in terms of: feeling safer and more secure, and being more active around their home (De San Miguel et. Al. 2017).
The main benefits reported by purchasers of a panic button for elderly people were: feeling of security and peace of mind for themselves; reduced anxiety about falling and not being able to get up; feeling of security and peace of mind for their family; providing fast assistance in an emergency situation; extending the time they were able to continue living in their own home; increasing confidence in performing everyday activities; being able to get help from anywhere in the home; and, being more active around the home because they were not worried about falling.

Medical alarms take care of your elderly relatives because they make it easy for your relatives to contact family if they should fall ill. By wearing a medical alarm device your elderly relative can get help with the touch of a button.
If you choose to have a falls alarm for elderly people, the SOS button doesn’t even have to be pressed. The technology inside the necklace can recognise a fall and the alarm is triggered automatically.
The medical alaert button takes care of your elderly relative through its ability to get help quickly. This means your family member doesn’t have to wait hours for help or emergency assistance to arrive.
If someone is able to reach your elderly relative quickly it can avoid the added suffering of hypothermia or dehydration. Getting help quickly increases your elderly relative’s chances of making a full and fast recovery.
Another way SOS alarms with medical alert buttons help the elderly is if you have an alarm with GPS tracking. This means that the alarm can be used both at home and when ‘out and about’. It also means that if your relative gets lost or becomes confused while they are away from home, they can press the SOS button for help. You’ll then be sent a map showing their location within 5 to 10 metres.
There’s also another excellent feature of the SureSafeGO. It is Geo-Fencing. If you have an elderly relative who tends to wander you can set the tracking to send you an alert if your relative leaves the area you have set up as a safe zone.
You can also find them without them having pressed the button by using the Find Me feature on the SureSafeGO.

A medical alarm system can help elderly relatives to live independent lives because they have the reassurance of a personal alarm. Wearing an alarm that calls family or a SureSafe operator at the touch of a button provides security.
Security gives the personal alarm wearer the confidence to get out of the house and be independent. Knowing that at the touch of a button help is at hand, your elderly relatives become less afraid of leaving what they see as the safety of their home to get on with life. Wearing a personal medical alarm reduces anxiety about falling and therefore gives your elderly relatives the confidence to stay young at heart and to get out and about.
Wearing a lightweight and discreet personal alarm means that should your elderly relative feel unwell, or have an accident, they don’t have to rely on strangers to get them the help they need. They can press the SOS button and hear the reassuring voice of a family member or friend.
Many elderly people living as a couple also feel more confident if their housebound partner wears a personal medical alarm. This lets them get out to the shops or the library. They know that if their partner needs them at home, they will be contacted immediately the SOS button is pressed or a fall alert alarm senses a fall.
In fact, if you have a fall detection device the wearer doesn’t even have to press the button. The alarm will sense a fall and send out an alert automatically.
The young at heart seniors we support appreciate having someone on the other end of their SOS button. They can listen to advice and reassurance.
Our senior medical alert devices are designed to keep you safe when you are out and about meaning you can keep doing what makes you happy, whether that be exercising, shopping, meeting friends or enjoying a hobby.
The SureSafeGO can help you while you’re away from home because it is fully mobile, and it has GPS tracking.
GPS tracking in the necklace will send your nominated contacts a map if you press the SOS button. They will be able to find your location within 5 to 10 metres. This feature is useful when you are away from home, and you get lost or become confused about your whereabouts.
The SureSafeGo acts as a fall detection device is also an immense help when you are away from home. The personal alarm can feel the change in air pressure and movement which is associated with a fall.
In this case, it triggers the alert immediately rather than waiting for you to press the SOS button. Your family member, or other designated contact can contact you immediately. If you’re not able to speak then they know to contact the emergency services.
The SureSafeGO GPS tracking system uses mobile phone networks to make sure you are always connected, so you don’t need to worry about being close to a landline or a base unit.
