I was a little worried about mobile coverage where my father lives - neither of us has any mobile signal at his house. I had an email exchange and later a telephone conversation with John who was extremely patient and helpful. After a little research their end we decided it was worth ordering with the knowledge that I could return within 14 days if I found it was unsuitable.

I am pleased to say that extensive testing on receipt put my mind at rest. The only issue now is getting him to remember to wear it!

Excellent customer service, really easy to set up and a great device. Really innovative locking in the wrist band so no need to worry about it being taken off and forgetting to put it back on, no static equipment that could be unplugged and the reassurance that I can see when Mum goes out, where she is and when she gets home again. So reassuring for Mum to know she can talk to me just by pressing a button. Also really helpful reminders to charge the device. It is no exaggeration to say that this device has given my Mum so much more independence and it’s given me more freedom as I feel safe leaving Mum for a couple of hours at a time. Life changing!

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? Take a look at some of the common questions that people have before choosing the best personal alarm for them:

Which is the best personal alarm for elderly people is a question that is often asked when searching for a device to help keep their loved one safe at home, and provide everyone with some peace of mind. Unfortunately there is no simple answer to this question. Instead, you need to consider the needs of the person that will use the emergency alarm. Personal alarms have a broad range of features available, and you want to make sure that the alarm you choose has the features that are right for you. Features include an elderly fall alarm, GPS tracking, the ability to use it anywhere you go (not just at home), and the ability to talk through the pendant or wristband (not needing to be near a base unit plugged into the phone line), plus many more. With this many options, it is not surprising that some people find it confusing trying to decide which alarm is right for them.

SureSafe is a leading provider of personal alarms for elderly people, and telecare services, and can help you answer the question 'which is the best personal alarm for elderly people?'. One of the things that makes us different is that we have the broadest range of alarms available. If you have decided that a medical alert for the elderly can help you or a loved one stay safe and independent, there are a few things to think about before choosing the best personal alarm to suit your needs. Do you want protection at home only, or when you are ‘out and about’? Is the alarm user prone to falls, so would a fall detection device be a good idea? Do you want to be able to talk to the alarm respondent through the base unit?

If you want help choosing the right alarm for you or your loved ones needs, then call one of our friendly team on 800 644 2554 and we can help you decide on the best personal alarm for your needs.

We encourage you to wear your elderly alert device while in the bathroom. The bathroom is statistically the highest risk place for a fall. All our medical alert systems for seniors are shower proof, and some of them can be worn in the bath. Check out our individual product pages for more details.

Don't worry, simply wait to speak to your family member or other designated contact and tell them that it is a false alarm.

Absolutely, we have thousands of customers that use our medical alert service that are either deaf or hard of hearing.

Please contact us to let us know your new address, phone number and if any of your nominated contacts will have changed as a result of the move. You should also test your elderly alarm when you set it up in your new home.

Call the SureSafe customer service team on 800 644 2554, or email [email protected], to arrange for an additional or replacement buttons to be sent to you. This will be for a small additional cost. All of SureSafe’s elderly person alarms will work in the home and garden, so you can feel confident to be out in the garden and know that you can still get help. In fact the SureSafeGo works anywhere that there is a phone signal!

All cancellations need to be made in writing, by email. Please email [email protected]. We will then make arrangements to cancel the personal alarm service for you, and let you know how to return the alarm equipment to us.

Not all devices offer this functionality but ours do! The SureSafeGO works away from home using GPS and is the best way of staying safe when you are out and about. You can choose the family monitored alarm and when it is triggered it will call and notify up to three family or friends. There are no monthly fees with this option, but you do need to buy our pay-as-you-go credit.

The GPS means your family can find your location if you need medical assistance or help to get back home, should you get lost or become confused about your whereabouts. If you press the SOS button for help while you’re away from home, the system will send a map to your nominated contact. They will be able to find you from within 5 and 10 metres of the map’s location.

The benefit of the GPS is that you can get help quickly if you need it. There’s no time wasted while your family try and find out where you are. This can be vital if you fall ill or have a fall. Your family can contact the emergency services or get to you without the delay that could result in further injury, dehydration, or hyperthermia.

The SureSafeGO personal alarm is a useful way to stay connected if you have medical conditions that sometimes mean you need help. People living with diabetes, epilepsy and dementia can benefit from a one-button alarm that brings help quickly. It is a commonly used tracker for dementia patients.

While there are apps or services that can be used in conjunction with your smartphone to offer some features that are similar to a medical alarm, the activation of these is not as convenient as simply having a wearable personal alarm device on you.

This is because with a wearable button you can call for help at the touch of a button to call.

You also do not always have your cell phone on your person, so you cannot be guaranteed to be able to access it when you need it most. One example among many is when in the shower, the highest risk place of a slip or trip.

Medical alarms for the elderly are designed to provide quick support in cases of an emergency.

There are different types of personal alarms (namely alarms connected to a response centre, or alarms connected to family and friends). The alarm is designed to call one of these options if a button is pressed, or something such as a fall is detected (depending on the alarm and the features it has).

Medical alarm devices work by connecting you, or a loved one, to help at the push of a button worn on the body at all times.

Studies have shown that when comparing medical alaert devices users and non-users, those with a panic button for elderly people service experienced more positive outcomes in terms of: feeling safer and more secure, and being more active around their home (De San Miguel et. Al. 2017).

The main benefits reported by purchasers of a panic button for elderly people were: feeling of security and peace of mind for themselves; reduced anxiety about falling and not being able to get up; feeling of security and peace of mind for their family; providing fast assistance in an emergency situation; extending the time they were able to continue living in their own home; increasing confidence in performing everyday activities; being able to get help from anywhere in the home; and, being more active around the home because they were not worried about falling.

Depending on your own needs or the needs of your loved ones, the best type of medical alert. For example, a dementia tracker is most helpful for a person with dementia.

The SureSafeGo is one of the most featured packed, yet easy to use, devices on the market and will suit most seniors.

Please do call 800 644 2554 and one of our friendly team of Independent Living Specialists will be able to help you choose the right alarm for your needs and circumstances.

Medical alarms take care of your elderly relatives because they make it easy for your relatives to contact family if they should fall ill. By wearing a medical alarm device your elderly relative can get help with the touch of a button.

If you choose to have a falls alarm for elderly people, the SOS button doesn’t even have to be pressed. The technology inside the necklace can recognise a fall and the alarm is triggered automatically.

The medical alaert button takes care of your elderly relative through its ability to get help quickly. This means your family member doesn’t have to wait hours for help or emergency assistance to arrive.

If someone is able to reach your elderly relative quickly it can avoid the added suffering of hypothermia or dehydration. Getting help quickly increases your elderly relative’s chances of making a full and fast recovery.

Another way SOS alarms with medical alert buttons help the elderly is if you have an alarm with GPS tracking. This means that the alarm can be used both at home and when ‘out and about’. It also means that if your relative gets lost or becomes confused while they are away from home, they can press the SOS button for help. You’ll then be sent a map showing their location within 5 to 10 metres.

There’s also another excellent feature of the SureSafeGO. It is Geo-Fencing. If you have an elderly relative who tends to wander you can set the tracking to send you an alert if your relative leaves the area you have set up as a safe zone.

You can also find them without them having pressed the button by using the Find Me feature on the SureSafeGO.

All our personal alarms are lightweight and discreet. Your loved one can wear the alarm comfortably at all times, even in the bath or shower.

A medical alarm system can help elderly relatives to live independent lives because they have the reassurance of a personal alarm. Wearing an alarm that calls family or a SureSafe operator at the touch of a button provides security.

Security gives the personal alarm wearer the confidence to get out of the house and be independent. Knowing that at the touch of a button help is at hand, your elderly relatives become less afraid of leaving what they see as the safety of their home to get on with life. Wearing a personal medical alarm reduces anxiety about falling and therefore gives your elderly relatives the confidence to stay young at heart and to get out and about.

Wearing a lightweight and discreet personal alarm means that should your elderly relative feel unwell, or have an accident, they don’t have to rely on strangers to get them the help they need. They can press the SOS button and hear the reassuring voice of a family member or friend.

Many elderly people living as a couple also feel more confident if their housebound partner wears a personal medical alarm. This lets them get out to the shops or the library. They know that if their partner needs them at home, they will be contacted immediately the SOS button is pressed or a fall alert alarm senses a fall.

In fact, if you have a fall detection device the wearer doesn’t even have to press the button. The alarm will sense a fall and send out an alert automatically.

The young at heart seniors we support appreciate having someone on the other end of their SOS button. They can listen to advice and reassurance.

Our senior medical alert devices are designed to keep you safe when you are out and about meaning you can keep doing what makes you happy, whether that be exercising, shopping, meeting friends or enjoying a hobby.

The SureSafeGO can help you while you’re away from home because it is fully mobile, and it has GPS tracking.

GPS tracking in the necklace will send your nominated contacts a map if you press the SOS button. They will be able to find your location within 5 to 10 metres. This feature is useful when you are away from home, and you get lost or become confused about your whereabouts.

The SureSafeGo acts as a fall detection device is also an immense help when you are away from home. The personal alarm can feel the change in air pressure and movement which is associated with a fall.

In this case, it triggers the alert immediately rather than waiting for you to press the SOS button. Your family member, or other designated contact can contact you immediately. If you’re not able to speak then they know to contact the emergency services.

The SureSafeGO GPS tracking system uses mobile phone networks to make sure you are always connected, so you don’t need to worry about being close to a landline or a base unit.
